Starting as a golden maple wooden wine rack, I removed the metal bottle holders and added a back wall with a large arched window. The window has a removeable embossed faux leadlight film. In front of the window, on the floor, are two Grecian statues. The room has glossy wooden floorboards. These, and all the other woodwork in the room, is maple/ jarrah in colour. I have built bookshelves along the back wall. The ground floor has a shelf on either side of the window. These have a wooden capping and beaded and rope trim. The second floor accessed by a spiral staircase features a wall of shelves. The same capping and trim is used and the shelving is divided by a wider beaded trim. Two flower vases and a ceramic owl sitting on a book decorate the top of the bookcase. A lovely resin antique style chair is placed near the bookshelves for reading comfort. The second floor walkway has a wooden railing and posts with an entryway to the spiral stairs. The staircase is completely handcrafted and can be made to the height of your choosing. Each step is seperated by metal spacers and connected together by bronze metal chain, attached to metal caps on the wooden stair spindles. The step fronts have been rounded off I haven’t fixed the stairs in place so as to enable you to adjust their placement , along with the addition or removal of steps and spacers to suit height requirements. The steps are fixed into a round base. The staircase is 31 cm h at the highest point of the top stair spindle. The base is 11 cm in diameter. The staircase can be removed from the room and is available to be ordered seperately, as is the desk and bench. The wooden desk is jarrah stained with beaded trim. The back of the desk has a shelf with a single false drawer underneath and a bronze metal drawer pull. The desk has 4 ornate bronze metal feet. It measures 10 cm l, 7.5 cm h at its highest point, 6.5 cm h at the front and 7 cm d. Matching the desk is a jarrah stained wooden bench with 2 of the same ornate feet and a black fabric padded cushion with small pink roses. The cushion has a central bead stud, black twist cord and a maroon silk fringe trim. It measures 7cm w, 5 cm h and 3 cm d. I have filled the library with many handcrafted books. Some are prop books with pages of original text and illustrations. These include Jane Austen, Art History Books, Lewis Carroll, Assorted Vintage Style Books,Lang Fairy Tales, The Chronicles of Narnia, Edgar Allen Poe, Christmas Books and Beatrix Potter. The others are my own books, with original text illustrations and covers. Some books have leather covers, catches, corners and bookmarks. The books can be made smaller or larger. The library is 49 cm h, 41 cm w and 42 cm d. A gold and glass hanging 12V chandelier completes the setting.
